Back in Zambia

Hi all….

Well after an extremely long flight with Ethiopian airways we have now been back in Lusaka for almost a week! Life this week has been about settling in, getting used to the slower pace of life here and sorting out the house!!

Had an amazing meeting today at House of Moses (an incredible home for babies who have been abandoned or cannot live at home for some reason). The meeting was all about the Embrace Zambia Project, which is the first fostering programme in Zambia. Its so exciting with 86 potential foster carers due to attend a meeting next Friday. This is a grass roots project led by the churches here and we feel so privileged that Tehila is part of the core action committee. Its a movement to see children being released from orphanages and placed in loving families.

After the meeting I popped upstairs to say a quick hello to the babies. Gorgeous Rebekah was crying, waiting for her turn to be fed with her milk. I picked her up and offered to help with the feeds. As I held her, my heart broke once again. My passion to see children loved and thriving in this nation once again rose in me. I have been tired over the last few months. Yet today I found fresh hope and a new lease of energy as I remembered why I am here, why God wants me and us as a family in this place……

On another note, normal life continues. Friday night is dvd night and tonight it was decided to watch the movie in the van!!

Have a fab weekend….
