Our Purpose

Tehila is a local and leading child safeguarding organisation in Zambia. We collaborate with children, churches, communities and child-focused organisations to create safer environments for children. Through connecting, capacity sharing and collective action, we aim to prevent and respond effectively to violence against and mistreatment of children.

Our collaborating partners are experts. Tehila facilitators walk alongside communities and organisations as they identify risks specific to children in their context and develop safeguarding measures to respond to these risks. Tehila works adheres to Zambian national laws on child protection and recognises international minimum standards on child safeguarding.  In all our programmes a child’s best interests and safety is paramount.

Our Values

Child Centred

Children are celebrated and at the centre of all that we do. The welfare of children must come first. Children can be both beneficiaries and active players in the fight to end violence against and mistreatment of children.

Inclusivity

There are many ‘experts’ in the field of child safeguarding. Every viewpoint matters. Local expertise combined with international and evidence based knowledge will lead to the most positive outcomes for children.

Collaboration

Tehila values relationships with people from all spheres of life. Working together within our strengths and taking collective action with others will have the biggest impact for children.

Sustainability

Tehila believes measures to safeguard children will be most effective if these measures are initiated from within the communities and organisations with which we work. Participatory and facilitatory methods are used by Tehila to promote this sense of ownership.

Professional

Tehila expects commitment and high performance from those representing us. Accountability, integrity and transparency are vital.

Faith - filled

Motivated by our Relationship with Jesus Christ.
